Part-time workers now represent more than one in five U.S. workers:

Part-time workers now represent more than one in five U.S. workers, according to a February 2013 survey from Gallup. Fewer than half of U.S. workers (43.3 percent to be exact) are now working full-time jobs, which represents a significant decline from a year earlier. Correspondingly, the number of part-time workers as a percent of the American workforce has increased in the last year, from 17.6 percent in July to 20.6 percent last month.

Critics say this is a bad trend since many of these part-time jobs are reported to be low-wage positions that don’t offer benefits. What do you think?

This month, the top ten states for weekend jobs are:

California - 33,384 jobs
Texas - 29,703 jobs
Florida - 17,931 jobs
New York - 17,394 jobs
Illinois - 13,376 jobs
Ohio - 12,991 jobs
North Carolina - 11,702 jobs
Pennsylvania - 11,381 jobs
Virginia - 10,998 jobs
Georgia - 9,872 jobs

It’s not surprising that these states, which have the largest populations, have the most weekend job postings. But, encouragingly, even states with small populations like Vermont (1,428 posts) and Alaska (1,092 posts) have over 1,000 job posts.

So if you’re looking to take on some extra work - regardless of where you live - consider all the weekend jobs available

As a job hunter you cant spend all day on the internet looking for work. You need to “press the flesh” as they say, and go to networking events to meet other people. Event sites like Meetup & Eventbrite are good sources. Just type in the words ‘job’ or ‘career’ and your location to find the events near you.

But there is an easier way to search them as well. Use 99events.com. Its a one stop shop to search all those sites at once.

Networking with your peers and fellow jobhunters should be your goal at least once per week. You’ll make connections with people, find empathy from others in your situation and you hear about job leads from other folks.

Here are 10 high-paying weekend jobs you may want to consider:

IT worker - There are lots of IT-related jobs that need to be done on the weekends. From updating computers and other office equipment to launching new websites and fixing server issues. And since these are typically highly-skilled jobs, employers are willing to pay a pretty penny.
Registered nurse - People don’t only get sick during the week, which is why hospitals and doctors’ offices need registered nurses who are willing to work on the weekends. Nurses already make a pretty good salary, but those who offer to work weekends and be on call usually earn even more.

1.) California: It may be no surprise but California is our number one pick for weekend jobs with over 32,000 weekend jobs. So if you are looking for a second job, or just some extra cash California is the place to do it on the weekend.
